UPS, FedEx ship via post office
Because carrying packages to far-flung individual customers costs more than serving clustered business customers, both delivery firms are taking advantage of the U.S. Postal Service's cheaper delivery to customers it must serve. UPS is targeting services toward households, with slower delivery, fewer attempts and return fees for undeliverable items. FedEx also is testing a service with the post office.
