Jeff Gordon held off Tony Stewart over the final 33 laps to win the rain-delayed NASCAR Winston Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It was his third win this year.
The 325-lapper ended under caution when Dale Earnhardt Jr. bumped pole-winner Ryan Newman as they raced for sixth at lap 320. Stewart had come from several seconds behind Gordon to within several car-lengths, but the yellow caution flag kept him from making a final challenge. After bidding for a top-five finish, Newman finished 29th.
Jimmie Johnson, Bill Elliott, Bobby Labonte, Earnhardt Jr., Jeremy Mayfield, Kurt Busch, Jimmy Spencer and Joe Nemechek rounded out the top-10. Points-leader Matt ...
