Let's take it... inside
The first indoor special stage ever held for the World Rally Championship is being planned for the '04 Wales Rally GB. Organizers are considering a super-special stage at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, the roof of which can be closed. The stage would use perimeter roads as well as the stadium interior, where the rugby and soccer playing surface can be removed to accommodate other events.
Bentley is finished
Bentley has scotched hopes that it will defend its Le Mans 24 Hour crown next year.
No plan is in place to go back to the race in '04, though some within the company have pushed for a return. Top brass at the VW-owned company have ruled out any chance of the Speed 8s racing again next season. Bentley chairman Franz-Josef Paefgen, who is also motorsport boss for the VW-Audi Group, said, "When we announced our return in November 2000, we always said this would be a three-year program. In the past three Le Mans events we have been more successful than we could have dreamed. The race has helped us revive the unique spirit of Bentley.''
Veloqx will run Le Mans
Veloqx Motorsport will run a pair of Prodrive Ferrari 550 Maranellos in next month's Le Mans 1000K.
