Call it celebrity democracy, where everyone's a star. There was no single standout, over-the-top concept that was the star of the Tokyo show this year, not like the Audi Avus was in 1991. Granted, we liked the Honda HSC, the Mazda Ibuki and a number of other concepts. But this year there were a lot of little stars, sort of like a constellation or a galaxy. And most of them had some sort of hybrid drivetrain or other alternative power source. There was a Mazda RX-8 powered by hydrogen, hybrids and fuel cells from Toyota, Honda, Nissan and many others.
