About 10 months ago, SCO Group Inc. traded at less than 1.

Last month, the business software maker's stock hit a three-year high over 20.

Is SCO a comeback story or a mirage?

The answer might not be known until the resolution of a lawsuit SCO filed against IBM Corp. in March. The outcome could have big implications for the fast-emerging Linux operating system.

No one's predicting SCO will win, but observers versed in the quirks of law are reluctant to guess at the outcome, which of course will also have big implications for SCO.

SCO says Big Blue is using 1.1 million lines of code taken from Unix, a popular operating system used mainly to run large corporate computing systems.
