2003 NOV 6 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A team of investigators from Kentucky and Ohio reported at the 59th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine that hormone replacement therapy did not improve cognitive function in women participating in a randomized, double-blind study.
Their first study examined whether estradiol alone or with progesterone affected cognitive abilities. Subjects were given either estradiol alone, estradiol and progesterone, or a placebo for 2 years.
