Local Hispanic firms lead the way

Three San Antonio companies are among the cream of the Hispanic business crop, making the top 10 of Hispanic Business magazine's list of the 500 largest Hispanic corporations in America published in this month's issue.

As Forbes picks its "Sales 500" each year and Business Week its top 1,000 businesses, Hispanic Business calculates the 500 healthiest Hispanic companies each year by sales revenues. The San Antonio companies with the most monetary muscle, based on 1990 sales, are Handy Andy Supermarkets Inc., No. 5 with sales of $154 million; Ancira Enterprises Inc., No. 7 with $138.37 million in sales; and Pizza Management Inc. (PMI), No. 8 with $133.44 million in sales.

Nine other local businesses also made the tally, including beef packer All-State Packing Co. Inc.; car dealership Torrado Town Park Chrysler-Plymouth, debuting on the list this year at No. 91; and Sosa, Bromley, Aguilar & Associates, the top Hispanic advertising agency in the …
