Box sets are a great way to immerse oneself in the music of a particular genre, artist or era. If the blues are what gets your foot tapping, then Rounder records has a new four-CD set that has to be one of the most varied blues collection in recent memory. "Box of the Blues" begins with a 1959 performance of "61 Highway" by Mississippi Fred McDowell that was recorded by the late music preservationist Alan Lomax. From there the set (which presents the best of the blues albums that Rounder has been putting out over the last 30 years or so) bounces around the blues spectrum, highlighting everyone …
