Box sets are a great way to immerse oneself in the music of a particular genre, artist or era. If the blues are what gets your foot tapping, then Rounder records has a new four-CD set that has to be one of the most varied blues collection in recent memory. "Box of the Blues" begins with a 1959 performance of "61 Highway" by Mississippi Fred McDowell that was recorded by the late music preservationist Alan Lomax.
