A National Can-Do List
In "Can-Do Calif -- Part I" (Editorial, Thursday), you hit the key point for staying out of financial trouble: the ability to say no.
Contrary to that is the political mind-set of giving everything you can away to build your support base. The national priorities should be to stop illegal immigration and level the global trade playing field.

Recall Bustamante
"Can-Do Calif. -- Part I" is right on.
California voters need to constantly remind our state legislators exactly who's boss. It was obvious from the so-called concession speech of Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante that he doesn't recognize the mandate that the people of California gave to Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger. His jokes about Schwarzenegger being welcome to travel out of the state to make movies so that he could enact his own agenda in the governor's absence show a complete disregard of the voice of the voters.
