Telecoms regulator Oftel has removed the last piece of regulation on the mobile market on the grounds that the sector was now fully competitive.

In what he described as a 'major landmark', Oftel director general David Edmonds removed interconnection obligations from Vodafone and O2.

'As none of the five mobile networks has significant market power, Oftel will withdraw the remaining regulation that places restrictions on Vodafone and O2,' Edmonds said.
