Norway's Statoil has entered into a major gas supply deal with French state-owned energy giant Electricite de France (EDF).

Under the agreement, Statoil will deliver 0.9 billion cubic metresof gas over a two-year contract period.

The Statoil/EDF agreement will run from 1 January 2004 to 1 October 2005.

Statoil declined to put a value on the deal but it described the price agreed with EDF as 'highly competitive'. The delivery point will be the Zeebrugge hub ...
