1999 has not been a good year for Al Unser Jr.
First his daughter, Cody Michelle, was found in February to have transverse myelitis, a spinal cord disease that has temporarily paralyzed the 12-year-old.
Then, at the Championship Auto Racing Teams opener in Miami in March, Unser broke his right ankle in a first-lap accident.
And finally, last week he filed for divorce from his wife, Shelley.
But developments this week have Unser thinking positive.
