2003 OCT 8 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Researchers have identified successful negotiation strategies used by Zimbabwean women to increase the use of male condoms.

According to a study from the United States, "One of the fundamental aspects of HIV counseling for women is condom negotiation strategy development. The present research sought to identify condom request strategies used by Zimbabwean women and to determine which were most effective in persuading male partners to use condoms."

"Of six types of strategies used by women after a prevention intervention, one was significantly associated with consistent condom use two months later," reported Ann O'Leary and colleagues at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
