2003 OCT 8 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Recent developments in West Nile virus vaccines and antiviral therapy have been reported in a recent issue of Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Patents.
"West Nile virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus that is now posing a severe threat to public health in North America. Prevention and treatment of WNV and other emerging flaviviruses represent a global public health priority," scientists in the United States report.
"This article will review general features of WNV transmission and replication, strategies recently reported in the literature and patents for vaccine development against WNV infections, and inhibitors reported to have anti-WNV activities," said Anh N.
