Global music sales fall nearly 11%
Music sales were down to $12.7 bil in the first half of this year as they continued to get hurt by Internet downloading and CD-burning, the Int'l Federation of the Phonographic Industry said. But the industry group expects a strong release schedule to limit the CD sales decline to 7%- 8% the rest of the year. Global sales of CDs, which account for almost 90% of total music sales, declined 11.7% in the first half.
