Everyone has seen the wall at a doctor's office -- the hundreds, sometimes thousands, of color-coded manila folders filled with patients' records.
To some, it's a pretty display. But it's also an inefficient way to store vital data.
Quality Systems Inc. wants to automate the infamous wall -- even if it makes your visit to the doctor a little less colorful.
The Irvine, Calif.-based company specializes in dental and medical management software. Two areas it targets are enterprise practice management and electronic medical records.
"The practice management market, or the billing and scheduling software market, is a far more established market that is nearly fully penetrated," said Lou Silverman, the company's chief executive.
Electronic medical records offer more growth potential. The reason? Health care providers are rushing to store patients' records electronically to become compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA.
