After five years as CEO and chief medical officer of Lovelace Health Systems, Dr. John Lucas has resigned to become president and CEO of the St. Francis Health System in Tulsa, Okla.

Lucas' resignation takes effect June 30. Dr. Martin Hickey, Lovelace's chief operating officer, will fill in for Lucas until Lovelace names a replacement. Lovelace has already started a national search.

Lucas is among several top executives who have left Lovelace since early 1996. They include Lovelace's former chief administrative officer, Dave Brooks; its former health-plan executive medical director, …
