The undefeated Lobo football team is gaining national recognition these days even when it doesn't play a game.
UNM, which had a bye this past weekend, received 12 votes in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll released today.
The Lobos got as many votes as Marshall University, and are ahead of such schools as Southern Cal, Arkansas and Miami (Fla.).
The Lobos did not receive any votes in this week's Associated Press poll.
UNM coach Dennis Franchione is one of 62 voters on the USA Today/ESPN panel. But he said he did not vote for his own team.
