Mayor Martin Chavez today said the city will ask state regulators to allow a yearlong electric retail wheeling pilot project in the city, through which some customers would be able to buy power from companies other than Public Service Company of New Mexico.
Officials say they hope participants in the project will see their electric bills drop 10 percent to 20 percent. They hope to begin the project Jan. 1.
