Gov. Gary Johnson was expected to unveil his education agenda today.

A summary:

* Get rid of the state Board of Education and move the state's top education job, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, under the governor's helm. A constitutional amendment would create a Cabinet-level Secretary of Education that would report to the governor.

The Legislature has defeated this idea for the past three years.

* Change local school-board elections from February to November to coincide with regular elections. The move would likely increase voter turnout for those elections, but critics warn that school-board elections …
