SANTA FE -- Leadership-backed proposals for construction of big-ticket highway projects won unanimous approval in the House.

The bills are part of package developed by House and Senate leaders to use federal and state money to finance more than $1 billion in road projects across New Mexico.

The House approved two bills Sunday and sent them to the Senate for consideration. The Senate on Saturday had approved the other piece of the road-building package, and it's pending in a House committee.
