Aussie Cantina takes taste buds on a vacation Down Under
Try as I might, I could not convince myself to eat a kangaroo.
Not so much because they are Australia's version of the sweet and innocent Bambi (though I hear they can kill a man with one swift kick), but because there are so many other tantalizing dishes to be had at the Aussie Cantina, a relatively new and fun spot on the North Fourth drag.
No, a boomer burger ($8.95) -- boomer being the Australian word for a full-grown kangaroo -- will just have to wait until I savor other pleasures from the land Down Under.
See, unlike the popular Outback Steakhouse chain, which claims to be as Australian as a bush flier (another Aussie term for kangaroo) but is actually as American as a Chicago chop house, the Aussie Cantina actually serves that which you might enjoy in Australia.
Here, too, you'll find the beer and wine of Australia and the casual hedonism and friendliness of Australia.
