Despite the weekend arrests of two high-profile Lobos, the majority of the University of New Mexico's nearly 500 student-athletes comport themselves admirably, UNM's director of athletics said.

Nevertheless, Rudy Davalos said it's unrealistic to expect a controversy-free athletics program.

"You're always going to have problems," he said Monday afternoon, "because all we are is a reflection of a society."

Lobo sports took a public-relations hit this past weekend when UNM men's basketball standout Kenny Thomas and football linebacker Ryan Taylor were jailed after unrelated incidents Sunday.
