State settles clinic's claim against Serna.(Local News)

SANTA FE -- New Mexico has settled a claim filed against State Corporation Commissioner Eric Serna and several members of the commission staff.
The claim was filed last fall by La Clinica del Pueblo in Tierra Amarilla.
It alleged Serna misused his position to harass the clinic for a family friend and political supporter.
In 1996, Serna and another commissioner threatened to fine the clinic and close its ambulance service based on complaints by several patients of Dr. Lindy Akes, also of Tierra Amarilla.
Serna is the godfather of Akes' children and the Akes and Serna families were longtime friends. …
