Russian hockey has become a victim of its own success, says one of the country's most famous figures in the sport.
The best Russian players these days can find high-paying jobs in North America, in the National Hockey League. Forty-two Russians skate in the NHL -- 6.4 percent of the league.
"It's good that they can show their capabilities," said Youri Paramochkine, speaking through a translator on Wednesday, "but it's not too good for our hockey because the younger players in Russia have no one to learn from because the better players have left."
