Training former welfare mothers in new careers, educating high school dropouts, and preparing students for university degrees -- those are just a few of the programs three newly elected board members for the Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute will oversee after Tuesday's election.

Six candidates are vying for three seats on TVI's seven-member Governing Board. The seats are those from District 2, which represents the Far Northeast Heights and part of the Southeast Heights; District 4, the South Valley and part of the Southeast Heights; and District 6, the near Northeast Heights and North Valley.
