SANTA FE -- Gov. Gary Johnson today used his veto pen for the first time this session to trim about $2.2 million from a legislative expense bill, charging that legislators are spending too much on themselves.

Johnson line-vetoed the money earmarked for legislative staffing and benefits from the Legislature's $16.4 million feed bill.

Johnson informed legislative leaders of his partial veto of the feed bill in a two-page veto message release this morning.
