One of the three candidates elected to the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute Governing Board was surprised to learn she won a cliffhanger race she thought she'd lost.
Another didn't accept the congratulations of friends until every vote in her district had been counted Tuesday night.
And the third -- who ran unopposed in her district -- simply couldn't lose.
Six candidates vied for three seats on TVI's seven-member Governing Board. The results:
TVI District 2 (representing the Far Northeast Heights and part of the Southeast Heights): Ruth L. Connery won with 2,169 votes, against William E. Schuler's 1,447 votes.
