Yeehah, a Texas institution is coming to Albuquerque. No, UT isn't opening a branch campus. Dickey's Barbecue Pit will open a restaurant this fall on the restaurant strip that's sprouting from the chamisa and sand along Pan American Freeway.
The chain is based in Dallas and is in the middle of a Western expansion: Dickey's has (or will have) 47 restaurants in 8 states by year's end. With 25 of those restaurants in Texas and seven more on the way, Dickey's is almost as much of a Texas fixture as Dairy Queen.
