Bernalillo County is in a dispute with Public Service Company of New Mexico, and the fight could hold up or even derail a $34 million electric rate cut for all of PNM's customers.
The county has filed an objection to the rate cut, arguing that the utility must start absorbing part of the cost of burying power lines and stop collecting fees from Bernalillo County customers to pay for power line rights of way. The county doesn't charge PNM for the access.
A hearing is set for June 28 before the state Public Regulation Commission.
