SANTA FE The controversy over private prisons in New Mexico may be changing from a regular-season rivalry to the Super Bowl of debates.

"In my mind every session's debate is going to focus on privatization. But this will certainly be the political football of the year," said Rep. Joe Mohorovic, a member of the Legislature's interim Courts, Corrections and Criminal Justice Committee.
