A body found in a rugged area of the Sandia Mountains has been identified as a Sandia Park woman who authorities say apparently fell to her death.

Searchers found the woman's body just before noon Friday and positively identified it hours later as Dorothy Sanchez, 42, who had been missing since Wednesday, State Police Lt. Richard Newman said.

The body was taken to the state Office of the Medical Investigator to determine the cause and manner of death, but Newman said it appears she may have died from a fall.
