After having some humble pie shoved down their throats in Houston, the New Mexico women's basketball team is hoping to purge itself of that distasteful performance, beginning tonight in the first round of the Lobo Shootout.

In first-round matchups, American University plays Gonzaga at 5 p.m. with New Mexico and Texas Southern following approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The winners will play at 7 p.m. Saturday for the championship.

After falling apart in their last game, a 72-51 loss Monday to a previously winless Houston team, the objective for the Lobos (2-2) this weekend is to replenish some confidence before heading into the teeth …
