The multibillion-dollar Air Force research program to develop an anti-missile laseris currently based in Los Angeles.A $2 billion to $3 billion laser project could be coming to Albuquerque if the Pentagon moves the Air Force's Spaced-Based Laser research program from its current home in Los Angeles.

The move, which could occur in summer, is being evaluated by the Air Force Material Command on orders from the Pentagon, said Ronea Alger of the Air Force Space Missiles System Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base.
