SANTA FE The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has destroyed more than 7,100 pounds of rainbow trout that tested positive for whirling disease.

The 167,284 fish were taken from the Seven Springs Hatchery in the Jemez Mountains, about 25 miles east of Los Alamos.
