Funeral services were scheduled today for Manoa Jojola, 18, killed in a car crash Thursday night.An Albuquerque Academy senior was at the wrong place at the wrong time, becoming the second teen-ager this month killed in a car crash under bizarre circumstances.
Manoa Jojola, 18, of Isleta Pueblo died in the crash that occurred Thursday night when another vehicle targeted in a high-speed police chase roared through a red light and into the teen's truck at San Mateo Boulevard Northeast and the I-25 overpass, authorities said.
The driver of that vehicle, Samuel Gonzales, 25, who had been wanted on a parole violation and in connection with an earlier stabbing at a Northeast Heights apartment, remains in City-County Jail on charges of vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of child abuse and leaving the scene of an accident.
Thursday night's police chase had been called off moments before the crash, Albuquerque Police Chief Gerald Galvin said at a news conference Friday.
