Panel backs tech tax incentives.(Business)

SANTA FE Tax incentives would be offered to technology companies that expand or locate in New Mexico under proposals endorsed Wednesday by a Senate panel.

Sen. Roman Maes, a Santa Fe Democrat and sponsor of the two measures, said the tax credits would help encourage the growth of high-paying jobs in the technology industry in New Mexico.

The Ways and Means Committee unanimously approved the measures, which were recommended by a legislative study committee as a tool for economic development. The bills head next to the Senate Finance Committee for consideration.
