Local firm apparent low bidder in Big-I project.

Twin Mountain Construction II Co. of Albuquerque is the apparent low bidder for the Big-I reconstruction project set to begin in June.

Twin Mountain, a national company with an Albuquerque office, bid $221,847,235.40 on the job, which the state Highway and Transportation Department says will take two years to complete.

According to state engineers' estimates, the actual construction costs are estimated to be $213,240,511.00, though the state has allotted $250 million to the project.

Much of the remaining money has gone to design the project.
