The tempest over Randy Thornhill's scientific claims that rape is biological is building.

Albuquerque counselors and health educators held a news conference Tuesday to condemn Thornhill's book on rape, adding their voices to a controversy that has gained attention in the national media.

And Thornhill, a University of New Mexico biology professor, said he is simply overwhelmed by the furor.

After stints on nationally televised news programs in recent days, Thornhill declined to comment, saying he is "too swamped for (any) more this week."
