A Rio Rancho teen is dead, and her brother is hospitalized after a head-on collision on N.M. 528 near High Resort Boulevard Tuesday night.
Detective John Francis of the Rio Rancho Public Safety Department said the crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Authorities found three victims at the scene. Two of them Karen Ferreira, 15, and her brother Douglas Ferreira, 17 were sent by Lifeguard helicopter to University Hospital.
Karen Ferreira died after being admitted, Francis said. Douglas Ferreira remains in the hospital with multiple fractures and other injuries.
