For months now, we've been reading and hearing about the Big-I reconstruction project.

There have been tangled diagrams in newspapers and daily updates on television and radio. There have been freeway signs flashing warnings in alarming yellow "BIG I LANE CLOSURES BEGIN JUNE 30. ACT NOW. BUS, BIKE, CAR POOL."

But despite all the information, all the advice, all the nagging, driving onto I-25 or I-40 this morning was an act carrying with it something of the excitement and apprehension usually associated with a first date.
