A pedestrian was shot to death near a busy Northeast Heights intersection this morning, and his suspected assailant was shot and wounded by a pursuing Albuquerque police officer, a police spokesman said.
Albuquerque Police Department Detective John Walsh said the victim, Mitchell Ray Price, 20, of Albuquerque, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Price was shot in the chest, Walsh said. He could not say how many times the victim was shot.
He identified the wounded suspect as Tariq Bashir, 27, of Albuquerque. He was shot in the torso, Walsh said.
