OLYMPIC COUCH POTATO

I've come to the conclusion that these Olympics have a silver lining after all.

Yes, the tape delay is maddening, and the network prime-time coverage has been disjointed and often sappy.

Thank goodness, then, for cable.

While we've been spoon-fed a steady diet of meaningless heats in swimming and track and nap-inducing diving preliminaries during NBC's daytime broadcasts, MSNBC and CNBC have been a veritable action buffet 279 hours of competition, mostly uncluttered by the fluff that suffocates the network offerings.

There's good stuff out there; you just have to find it.
