At first blush, vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Lieberman sounds a bit rigid as he makes the case for the Democratic agenda.

But those who met privately with Lieberman during his trip to Albuquerque on Monday walked away feeling they were charmed by Lieberman's personable, genuine approach to politics.

In a rote tone, Lieberman, a Democrat, spelled out the party line on Monday, using familiar sound bites during a campaign speech at the South Broadway Cultural Center.

The Republican plan for a tax cut will only "benefit the rich."

Medical decisions must be "taken away from bureaucrats and given back to doctors and nurses."
