It was almost a storybook life for Robert and Isabel Tischmacher.

After meeting at a high school reunion in 1979, the pair fell in love and married, merging two big families into one.

They traveled, built their dream retirement home in Arizona and were, as Isabel put it, just "enjoying our time together."

But that all changed at a Sixth Street gas pump in Albuquerque on April 10, 1999, when Robert, a 70-year-old Korean War veteran, was gunned down during a botched holdup.
