Deutsche Telekom AG said Sept. 26 it has walked away from a [Euro]1.2 billion ($1.4 billion) deal to buy the 51% it doesn't already own in Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa, Central Europe's biggest mobile telephone operator.

Bonn-based Deutsche Telekom said, however, that it remains committed to PTC on the basis of its current shareholding in the Polish operator and will continue to do all it can to contribute to the successful development of the business.

The German phone company, which was negotiating the transaction with France' s Vivendi Universal SA and Polish conglomerate Elektrim SA, said it terminated discussions …
