Vendor told 7-year-old to get off truck, then drove off, causing boy to fall, police say

A Hanahan man surrendered to Charleston police Thursday to face charges that he injured a 7-year-old boy with an ice-cream truck this week and then sped off.

Ice-cream vendor Allen Lee McGrew, 48, drove to Hanover Street on Monday to peddle his frozen treats. It was there he encountered young Tavon Pringle, who started to climb on McGrew's truck, police said.

Police say McGrew told Tavon to get off the truck and then drove away, causing the boy to tumble to the ground. A witness told investigators that McGrew stated "This is what he …
