DALLAS -- Patients with chronic kidney disease are at high risk for cardiovascular disease and should be closely monitored for dyslipidemias, according to new practice guidelines presented at a meeting on clinical nephrology sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation.
The evidence-based guidelines are part of an NKF initiative, the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (K/DOQI), which aims to improve patient outcomes by addressing complications and comorbidities of chronic kidney disease (CKD), Dr. Bertram Kasiske said.
