Chittagong, June 28 (UNB) - Eight people were washed away by floodwater in Fatikchhari upazila today (Saturday), raising the death toll in the district from landslides and flooding to 26 in three days.
Today's victims were identified as Sabina Begum of Narayanhat and her two children, Khadiza Begum of Sundarpur and her daughter Rumana, M Nurul Absar of Shoabeel, Delwar of Roshangiri and Jebel Hossain of Datmara.
Officials said the floodwater, triggered by incessant rain and onrush of hill water submerged the villages, washing away the eight people.
Of the victims, villagers could only recover the bodies of Sabina Begum and Rumana.
