VW plans MPV
Volkswagen will add a third model to its luxury stable with a radically styled seven-seat wagon/multipurpose vehicle. The new ride, due in early 2006, aims at the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but at a price that likely undercuts its German rivals. This MPV does not replace the mass-market, retro-styled microbus.
VW sources say the company's third luxury vehicle-to join Phaeton and Touareg-is "more than a dash of the Mercedes-Benz GST.'' The MPV is built on the same rear-/four-wheel-drive platform as the next-generation Audi A6 due next year.
G35 for all seasons
In time for winter, Infiniti will offer an all-wheel-drive model 2004 G35 Sport Sedan. Infiniti promises its advanced torque distribution system gives ideal traction and stability in slick conditions without compromising the car's rear-wheel-drive performance characteristics. The new model goes on sale in early December.
